Webseries Week: Dad Drives
You may know Mark Little from Picnicface, or as a stand-up comedian. He spent a lot of time at MainLine Theatre during Just For Laughs, doing different sets every day and nailing ‘em consistently. You may know Dan Beirne from The Bitter End, or as that weird guy in Tony Ho’s Sad People. But have you seen them write and perform together? I hadn’t, and then somebody told me about Dad Drives.
Dad Drives follows a simple format: A man and his son having a conversation in a car, in transit between point A and point B. This Dad, however, is a bit of an oddball, and thus the outcome of these conversations is hilarious. The man’s got no sense of what is and isn’t appropriate to say to his son, is a bit unwise (but don’t tell him so), and generally misreads his role in situations. Altogether, these short episodes end up being pretty damn funny, making this series a must-see. Little and Beirne make a great pair, and I look forward to seeing this show develop.
