Stolen From the Radio: 07/30 (The White Buffalo)

Earlier this year, I started producing a radio show on CJLO (1690AM) called Edge of the City. It’s on every Monday from Noon to 2PM. You know what’s great about having access to a college radio station? I get to raid their library. Know what that means? It means that every Monday, I’m going to grab a bunch of random albums from the station, listen to them, and feature the best one here. Enjoy!

This week, I’m bringing you some ol’ fashioned outlaw fun in a modern setting. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to thee: The White Buffalo!

Well good goddamn, my brain just surprised me. Listening to The White Buffalo‘s latest record, “Once Upon a Time in the West”, my first thought was that they would be a perfect choice to be used in FX’s Sons of Anarchy, a show I absolutely adore. And lo and behold, it turns out they were the band that performed the closing song to last year’s season finale, a modified version of House of the Rising Sun. These gentlemen have a classic dirty country vibe to them, mixed in with touches of wisdom and a combination of good & bad feelings that is usually only experienced whilst chugging whiskey. These guys have skill and this record shows it off. I strongly suggest you hunt ‘em down on itunes and add them to your library.

Quick shout out to anybody who’s in Sturgis, South Dakota next week for the Rally: These guys are playing a one-week residency at the Easyriders’ Saloon, all their shows are free, and it’s gonna be a blast.

Cheers!
