The IT Crowd
Fuck you, England. You have all the best shows. ALL THE BEST SHOWS.
Man, am I ever happy I moved into this apartment. From the first night I spent here, I’ve been discovering a whole bunch of shows and music I had never heard before, most of which kicks major ass. My favourite discovery, by far, has come in the form of a Channel 4 sitcom by the name of The IT Crowd.
The show is set in an I.T. office and features three leads backed by 3 recurring characters and a plethora of one-time appearances by various other peeps. The chemistry between the 3 leads (Moss, Roy and Jen) is unparalleled by any current trio that I’ve seen on American/Canadian television. From the first two episodes, you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a group of friends who just happen to have shit jobs and be completely insane. The dialogue is brilliant, the characters are hilarious, the plots are absurd. For instance, here’s Moss trying to deal with fire.
I only wish there were more episodes of this show out there. It has run for 3 seasons so far, of 6 episodes each, since this is the current British standard for television releases. There are 2 more seasons in the works (The first of which begins airing this upcoming Friday. SCORE!), but that’s still only going to amount to 30 episodes. That’s only 15 hours of The IT Crowd! How could I be satisfied with that?
Granted, I’ll take 30 excellent episodes over 60 okay episodes. American shows do have a tendency to get repetitive and boring pretty damn fast, probably due to the constant state of productivity that is demanded of the writers. Only a few shows actually manage to pump out decent episodes consistently, and the ones who do it best run for shorter seasons than the standards. I’m sure It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia would get a bit weak if it ran for a full 22 episode season.
But I digress! The point that needs to be made is this: Watch The IT Crowd. You’ll thank me later. I wish I had more clips to show, but most of them are embedding-disabled on YouTube. :(

This show makes me happy.
The newest episode is pretty excellent, if you haven't watched it already.
Also, if you like this, try The Mighty Boosh, it's got the IT Crowd's “Richmond” (Noel Fielding) and is fantastical.
